According to the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) report, the electability of Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto as a prospective presidential candidate surpasses that of Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. This survey is based on open-ended questions or "top of mind" responses.
"The highest top-of-mind choice is Mr. Prabowo Subianto, followed by Ganjar Pranowo, and then Anies Baswedan," said LSI Executive Director Djayadi Hanan in a virtual press conference on the LSI YouTube channel on Wednesday (3/5/2023).
Prabowo's electability was recorded at 18.3%. Ganjar's electability was 16.2%, and Anies's was 13.1%.
Djayadi stated that Prabowo's electability has been strengthening since January 2023. Meanwhile, he continued, Ganjar's electability experienced a decline during the February-April 2023 period, although it strengthened again in the latest survey.
"Meanwhile, Anies, compared to January 2023, has actually tended to see a strengthening (in his electability). However, the strengthening is not as high as that of Mr. Prabowo. Therefore, Prabowo is number one, Ganjar is number two, and Anies is number three," said Djayadi.
On the other hand, President Joko Widodo, also known as Jokowi, is ranked fourth with an electability of 6.8%.
According to Djayadi, Jokowi's appearance is due to the relatively high public satisfaction with the current government's performance. However, he continued, the public also knows that the president can only serve two terms, so Jokowi's name is not included in the top three.
