The Attorney General's Office recently celebrated its 63rd anniversary on July 22, 2023. This Adhyaksa Devotion Day is expected to strengthen law enforcement to support national development, as reflected in the institution's chosen theme.
However, does this spirit align with public perception or satisfaction?
A survey by *Kompas* Research and Development (Litbang *Kompas*), titled "Nurturing Public Expectations of the Attorney General's Office," gathered public perceptions of the Attorney General's Office's performance.
A majority, or 48%, of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the Attorney General's Office's current performance. Meanwhile, 45.5% of respondents expressed satisfaction.
"This tendency towards a divided respondent attitude is inseparable from the Attorney General's Office's steps in law enforcement, especially in handling cases that have drawn public attention," wrote the *Kompas* Litbang team on Monday (24/7/2023).
More specifically, the *Kompas* Litbang survey recorded respondent satisfaction levels with the Attorney General's Office across aspects of prosecution, investigation, corruption eradication, and law enforcement.
Prosecution and investigation showed higher satisfaction rates than the other two aspects.
Regarding prosecution, 41.2% of respondents felt satisfied, while 52.1% were dissatisfied.
In the aspect of investigation, 45.6% expressed satisfaction with the Attorney General's Office's performance, and 45.8% felt dissatisfied.
The other two indicators—the Attorney General's Office's performance in corruption eradication and law enforcement—showed the highest percentage of dissatisfaction.
Specifically, regarding corruption eradication, 66.6% of respondents answered that they were dissatisfied, while 31.6% were satisfied.
In the aspect of law enforcement, 64.6% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction, and 32.4% expressed satisfaction.
This survey involved 510 respondents from 34 provinces in Indonesia. The sample was randomly determined according to the population proportion in each province.
Data collection was conducted from July 11-13, 2023, using telephone interview methods. This survey has a margin of error of approximately 4.35% and a 95% confidence level.
