Recent Poltracking survey results show that Prabowo Subianto's electability as a prospective presidential candidate (bacapres) surpasses Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo in West Java.
"Poltracking's findings show Prabowo leading in West Java compared to the other two candidates, followed by Anies and then Ganjar," said Poltracking Indonesia Research Director Arya Budi in an online press conference on the Poltracking YouTube account, Tuesday (10/10/2023).
Arya stated that Prabowo holds the top position with an electability of 44.2%. Anies is in second place with 25%, while Ganjar is in third place with 21.8%.
The remaining 9% of respondents said they did not know or did not answer the survey questions.
According to Arya, Prabowo's participation in the 2014 and 2019 Presidential Elections has impacted the electability of the Gerindra Party Chairman in West Java.
"Methodologically, Mr. Prabowo is still leading. Moreover, if we flashback to 2019, where Prabowo already contested, and 2014, he also contested. Prabowo received almost 60% of the vote, so this figure is not surprising," said Arya.
Arya continued that, in terms of trends, the electability of all three prospective presidential candidates has increased compared to the Poltracking survey in June 2023.
At that time, Prabowo's electability was at 38.5%, Anies at 22%, and Ganjar at 20.2%. "Prabowo increased by 5.7%, Anies by 3%, and Ganjar by 1.6%," said Arya.
Poltracking involved 1,000 respondents aged 17 years and older or already married in the survey conducted from September 25 to October 1, 2023. This survey has a margin of error of approximately 3.1% at a 95% confidence level.
In addition to Poltracking, the survey results from the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA also show that Prabowo is leading in West Java. The survey shows that Prabowo leads in 3 out of 5 of Indonesia's largest provinces: West Java, East Java, and Banten.
