Indonesia Polling Stations (IPS) released the results of a new survey on the electability of presidential and vice-presidential candidates (presidential-vice presidential candidates) conducted after the third 2024 Presidential Election debate on Sunday (7/1/2024).

The pair of candidates (paslon) number 2, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, achieved the highest electability, namely 51.8%.

Second place was occupied by candidate pair number 2, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, at 21.3%. This was followed by candidate pair number 3, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, at 19.2%.

Meanwhile, 7.7% of respondents were undecided voters.

IPS researcher Alfin Sugianto believes that the low electability of the Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud pairs is related to the presidential debate on January 7, 2024.

"The collective attack strategy launched by Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo during the January 7, 2024 presidential debate proved to backfire," said Alfin in an online presentation of the survey results on Wednesday (17/1/2024).

According to him, the Prabowo-Gibran pair, who continuously faced attacks and criticism, actually gained a surge in public sympathy.

"If this trend continues and there are no political upheavals, the 2024 Presidential Election will be won by the Prabowo-Gibran pair in a single round," said Arifin.

This IPS survey involved 1,220 respondents from all over Indonesia. The sample was selected using a multistage random sampling method.

Data collection was conducted from January 7-13, 2024, using telephone interviews by trained interviewers. The survey has a margin of error of approximately 2.8% and a confidence level of 95%.
