More Indonesians Consider Central Government Performance Poor (September 2025)

According to a survey by the Pioneer Choice Seventeen Foundation (PP17), more Indonesian citizens believe the central government's performance is poor than otherwise, with percentages of 26% compared to 20%.

This total is an accumulation of percentages rating it very poor 10%, poor 9%, and very insufficient 7%. Meanwhile, those who considered it exceptionally good 2%, very good 4%, and good 14%.

PP17 stated that, by sector, the central government's performance related to economic issues was most frequently rated very poor or poor by the public.

“The government's performance on issues related to the economy, such as poverty (68%), the economy (51%), employment (50%), and anti-corruption (47%), was rated (very) poor by the public,” PP17 wrote in its report.

Furthermore, PP17 stated that the central government's performance score also decreased in Q3 2025 to 5.1 points compared to Q3 2024, which was 5.4 points.

However, when compared to Q2 2025, the central government's performance score saw a slight increase of 0.2 points.

“This slight increase indicates a limited recovery in public perception, especially after the previous period hit its lowest point,” PP17 explained.

“Generally, the public still considers the government's performance unsatisfactory, both in terms of handling economic issues and public policy governance,” it added.

The survey was conducted from September 26-29, 2025, involving 404 respondents aged 17-44 from across Indonesia, and utilized the computer-assisted self-interviewing (CASI) method or online survey.
