The East Java General Elections Commission (KPU) 2024 election results recapitulation shows that pair number 2, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, won with 16.71 million votes on Monday (11/3/2023).
Prabowo-Gibran won decisively in 36 out of 38 regencies/cities in East Java. The pair, nominated by the United Indonesia Coalition (KIM), only lost in Sampang and Pamekasan.
These two East Javanese regions were won by pair number 1, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, with 4.49 million votes.
Pair number 3, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, received the lowest number of votes in East Java, with 4.43 million.
The East Java KPU recorded 31,402,838 people on the permanent voter list (DPT) in the region. However, only 84.51%, or 26,539,721 people, cast their votes.
Of that number, 25,644,060 ballots were declared valid, while 895,661 were declared invalid.
However, during the finalization of the vote recount in East Java, witnesses from the AMIN pair and the Ganjar-Mahfud pair refused to sign the 2024 Presidential Election recapitulation results.
East Java KPU Chair Aang Kunaifi stated that the witnesses from the Anies-Muhaimin pair refused to sign because they felt there were many irregularities, such as data input errors in several polling stations.
Furthermore, the witnesses also objected to the performance of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), which was deemed to have not enforced its control principles to firmly address reports regarding alleged vote inflation, money politics, and intimidation of witnesses at polling stations.
"Thirdly, the Bawaslu's inaction regarding the fraud that occurred in almost all regions, where the findings were discovered by the Bawaslu itself," said Aang in a plenary meeting on the vote recapitulation at the national level at the KPU office, Jakarta, as reported by *Antara*, Wednesday (13/3/2024).
However, Aang did not detail the reasons why the Ganjar-Mahfud witnesses refused to sign the ratification of the 2024 Presidential Election vote count recapitulation in East Java.
