Yusron Ihza Lags Behind in Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Elections

Yusron Ihza Mahendra and his running mate, Yuzroni Yazid, trailed in third place in the 2017 Bangka Islands regional election. Yusron, the younger brother of Yusril Ihza Mahendra, former State Secretary under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, received only 99,388 votes, or 19.03 percent of the votes counted.

The top vote-getters in the Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Election were Erzaldi Rosman and Abdul Fatah, with 205,414 votes, or 39.33 percent of the votes counted. This was the highest number among all competing pairs, making them the most likely candidates to become governor and deputy governor for the 2017-2021 period.

Of the 2,698 polling stations (TPS), 2,576 TPS, or approximately 95.48 percent, have been recorded in the General Election Commission's data. However, voter turnout reached only 61.7 percent of the 877,611 eligible voters.
