SMRC: Ganjar Pranowo and Taj Yasin Secure 70% of the Vote in Central Java Gubernatorial Election

A Syaiful Mujani Research & Consulting (SMRC) survey shows that the gubernatorial candidate pair Ganjar Pranowo-Taj Yasin is leading in the Central Java Regional Head Election (Pilkada) to be held on June 27, 2018. Several reasons cited by respondents for choosing the Ganjar-Taj Yasin pair include their proven track record, honesty, and experience in government.

According to the SMRC survey using a ballot paper simulation, the electability of the incumbent governor candidate pair reached 70.1% of the vote. Their competitor, Sudirman Said-Ida Fauziyah, only garnered 22.6% of the vote, while 7.3% of respondents did not mark their ballots.

The SMRC survey for the Central Java Gubernatorial Election was conducted from May 23-30, 2018, involving 820 respondents across 10 electoral districts. The sample was selected using multistage random sampling with proportional allocation. The margin of error is estimated to be approximately 3.5% at a 95% confidence level.
