MBG, Indonesia's Government Program with the Highest Public Dissatisfaction

A survey conducted by the Seventeen Choice Pioneer Foundation (PP17) reveals that several Indonesian government quick-win programs have received negative responses from the public.

The free nutritious meal (MBG) program had the highest dissatisfaction rate, reaching 38% in Q2 2025. This comprises 14% who were very dissatisfied and 24% who were dissatisfied.

Thirty-eight percent of respondents were also dissatisfied with the government's policy to increase the salaries of civil servants (ASN).

The following details the level of public dissatisfaction with several government quick-win programs, based on the PP17 survey:

* Free nutritious meals: 38%

* Increasing ASN salaries: 38%

* Food estate: 35%

* Garuda flagship schools: 32%

* State revenue agency: 29%

* Infrastructure development: 25%

* Social welfare cards: 18%

* Free health check-ups: 14%

The survey also noted respondent dissatisfaction with government programs outside the quick-win category. The CoreTax tax reporting application received the most negative response, at 51%.

"This may be due to the numerous problems with the application reported by taxpayers," PP17 wrote in its National Kawula Survey Q2 2025 report.

A significant number of respondents were also dissatisfied with the Danantara program (41%), budget efficiency (32%), and the planned elimination of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) regulations (25%).

The survey involved 417 respondents aged 17-44, spread across various regions of Indonesia. Fifty-one percent of respondents were female and 49% were male.

Data collection was conducted from May 12-15, 2025, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method with a margin of error of approximately 5%.
