Many Election Observation Hashtags on Twitter, What's Their Content?

Social media analytics firm Drone Emprit analyzed the use of the hashtag #nazarpemilu, which recently went viral on Twitter (now X), on January 6, 2024.

The analysis showed that the hashtag's usage fluctuated throughout the day, peaking at 6 PM WIB. By the end of the tracking period, there were a total of 49,652 mentions.

"Prominent words included 'AMIN', 'win', and 'lose', possibly indicating discussions or sentiments surrounding competition, elections, or matches," said Drone Emprit Founder Ismail Fahmi in a tweet on his personal account on Saturday (January 6, 2024).

Drone Emprit then narrowed its analysis to two keywords: 'If 01 wins' and 'If 02 loses'.

Of the 6,432 tweets containing these keywords, the majority (78%), or 4,990 tweets, expressed the vow 'If 01 wins'.

Meanwhile, 22% of netizens made election vow tweets with the phrase 'If 01 loses', totaling 1,442 tweets.

In addition, Drone Emprit also recorded the most retweeted tweets related to the election vow hashtag on Twitter, one of which was from the account @selamatinaja.

"If Anies Imin wins, I will select 10 high school or university students for 1-on-1 mentoring on how to get scholarships. From essay writing, interviews, to personal branding," they wrote.

Responding to the significant support for presidential candidate number one, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN), AMIN campaign spokesperson Ramli Rahim denied allegations that the hashtag was organized by his team.

He claimed that the election vow hashtag phenomenon occurred organically among supporters.

"The majority of what happened with Anies was not organized; it sometimes emerges from enthusiasm, simply the enthusiasm for change, the enthusiasm for Anies's victory," said Ramli in a statement, as reported by CNN Indonesia on Saturday (January 6, 2024).
