Survey Indicator: Majority of Young People Concerned about Corruption Issues

An Indonesian Political Indicator survey reveals that corruption is the biggest concern among Indonesian youth. 64% of respondents aged 17-35 reported being very worried about this issue.

21% of respondents also reported being somewhat worried about corruption. 8% reported being slightly worried, while only 6% were not worried at all. The remainder did not answer or did not know.

Beyond corruption, young people are also concerned about environmental damage. 52% of respondents stated they were very worried about this issue.

30% of respondents reported being somewhat worried about environmental damage, and 13% reported being slightly worried. 4% were not worried at all, and the rest did not answer or did not know.

Many young people are also worried about health issues, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic. Specifically, 43% of respondents reported being very worried and 27% reported being somewhat worried.

18% of respondents were slightly worried about health issues, while 11% were not worried at all. The remainder did not answer or did not know.

Youth concerns were lowest regarding interracial/ethnic relations. Only 17% of respondents reported being very worried about this issue.

Indikator conducted the survey using a stratified multistage random sampling method, surveying 4,020 respondents aged 17 to 35 across Indonesia from September 9-16, 2021. The response rate was 3,623 people, or 90.1% of the total respondents.
