The presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin (Jokowi-Ma'ruf) enjoys higher electability among Muslim respondents compared to their rivals, Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno (Prabowo-Sandi). Factors such as the successful execution of the Asian Games and Jokowi's visit to Lombok contributed to some respondents choosing Jokowi-Ma'ruf. Conversely, the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate to Rp 15,000 per US dollar and the Ulama Ijtima' boosted support for Prabowo-Sandi.
Results from the LSI Denny JA survey, released on Thursday (September 27, 2018), indicate that Jokowi-Ma'ruf's electability among Muslims reached 52.8%, a slight increase from 52.7% the previous month. Their competitors obtained only 29.3%, although this represents an increase from 27.9%. Undecided respondents, those who remained secretive, and those who did not answer/don't know (TJ/TT) accounted for 17.9%. For context, Muslim respondents constituted 88.3% of the total sample.
The LSI Denny JA survey was conducted from September 14-22, 2018, involving 1,200 respondents across Indonesia. The sampling method used multistage random sampling, with face-to-face interviews conducted using questionnaires. The margin of error is +/- 2.9%.
