Gerindra Leads in Riau in the 2019 General Election

The Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) party secured the most votes in Riau Province during the 2019 general election.

According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the party led by Prabowo Subianto garnered 386,840 votes, representing 13.24% of the total 2.91 million votes cast in Riau Province.

The next highest vote-getter was the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) with 378,910 votes (12.97%), followed by the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) with 371,450 votes (12.72%), the Golkar Party with 351,930 votes (12.05%), and the Democratic Party with 326,690 votes (11.18%).

The Indonesian Unity and Solidarity Party (PKPI) received the fewest votes in Riau, with only 5,700 votes (0.2%). Following this was the Garuda Party with 14,310 votes (0.49%), and the Crescent Star Party (PBB) with 29,510 votes (1.01%).

Of the 16 parties that contested the 2019 election, 9 parties secured more than 5% of the vote, while 7 parties received less than 3%.

For information, the total votes in Riau Province contributed 2.09% to the national total of 139.97 million votes in the 2019 general election.
