According to a recent survey by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI), the voter base of the National Awakening Party (PKB) tends to support Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto as a prospective presidential candidate (bacapres) more than former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
"If we look at it from the party perspective, this is perhaps interesting, (PKB voters) still lean towards Prabowo," said LSI Executive Director Djayadi Hanan in an online press conference on LSI's YouTube channel, Wednesday (4/10/2023).
Djayadi stated that 47.4% of PKB voter respondents supported Prabowo. Meanwhile, 28.2% of PKB voters chose Anies, and only 22.9% chose former Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.
Furthermore, 1.5% of PKB voter respondents did not know or did not reveal their choice of presidential candidate.
Previously, in August 2022, PKB formed a coalition with Gerindra to nominate Prabowo as bacapres in the 2024 General Election.
However, in September 2023, PKB shifted its allegiance to the Nasdem and PKS coalition to nominate the pair of Anies and Muhaimin Iskandar, also known as Cak Imin.
The latest LSI survey also found that the support base of other parties seems to have already decided on their preferred leader.
Djayadi said that the respondent base of Gerindra voters consistently supported Prabowo.
Then, the respondent base of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) consistently supported their nominated bacapres, Ganjar Pranowo, and the respondent base of Nasdem voters solidly supported Anies.
Meanwhile, the respondent base of Golkar, Democrat, and PAN voters largely supported Prabowo, the PKS respondent base mostly supported Anies, and the PPP respondent base mostly supported Ganjar.
"So, that's roughly the composition of presidential choices based on party," said Djayadi.
This LSI survey was conducted from September 18-20, 2023. Survey respondents were Indonesian citizens aged 17 and above who have the right to vote in the election.
The survey involved 1,206 respondents selected through a random digit dialing (RDD) process, which had undergone validation and screening, with a margin of error of approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
