Inter-district Per Capita PDRB Disparity in Central Sulawesi

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita at current prices in Central Sulawesi was Rp 63.7 million in 2020. This figure increased by 4.8% compared to the previous year, which was Rp 60.8 million.

Based on regencies/cities, the highest GRDP per capita at current prices in Central Sulawesi was in Morowali Regency, namely Rp 502.4 million. Second place was occupied by North Morowali Regency with a GRDP per capita at current prices of Rp 85.51 million.

The GRDP per capita at current prices in Banggai Regency was recorded at Rp 71.8 million. In Palu City, the GRDP per capita at current prices was recorded at Rp 60.89 million.

Meanwhile, the lowest GRDP per capita in Central Sulawesi was in Banggai Laut Regency, namely Rp 30.57 million. Above it were Banggai Kepulauan Regency and Buol Regency with GRDP per capita at current prices of Rp 30.57 million and Rp 34.12 million, respectively.

This condition shows that the GRDP per capita between regencies/cities in Central Sulawesi is still experiencing inequality. In fact, BPS notes that this inequality is increasing every year.

According to BPS, this inequality occurs because the economic potential between regencies/cities in Central Sulawesi varies. Based on this, the government needs to explore the economic potential in various regions with low GRDP per capita to encourage equitable distribution.

For information, GRDP per capita is the average income of the population obtained from dividing the GRDP by the population in a certain region in a particular year. The higher the per capita income, the more prosperous the region.
