Despite the Pandemic, Sulawesi Tengah's Per Capita GRDP Increased in 2020

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) per capita in Central Sulawesi increased in 2020. This occurred despite the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping across Indonesia, including Central Sulawesi, last year.

Specifically, the GRDP per capita at current prices in Central Sulawesi was Rp 63.8 million in 2020. This figure rose by 4.8% from the previous year's Rp 60.8 million.

The GRDP per capita at constant prices in the province reached Rp 43.3 million last year. This value increased by 3.4% compared to 2019, which was Rp 41.9 million.

BPS stated that the growth of GRDP per capita, both at current and constant prices, in Central Sulawesi was the highest among other provinces. However, there is still inequality in GRDP per capita between regions in Central Sulawesi.

This is evident from the GRDP per capita at current prices in Morowali Regency, which was Rp 502.4 million. This is significantly different from the GRDP per capita at current prices in Banggai Laut Regency, which was only Rp 30.57 million.

For information, GRDP per capita is the average income of the population obtained by dividing the GRDP by the population in a certain region in a particular year. The higher the per capita income, the more prosperous the region.
