The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded investment components in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices (ADHB) of Rp 1,247.04 trillion in Q2 2021. This means that investment contributed 29.86% to the total national GDP of Rp 4,175.84 trillion.
The details are as follows: investment in buildings reached Rp 946.78 trillion (75.9%), machinery and equipment Rp 127.9 trillion (10.3%), vehicles Rp 60.89 trillion, cultivated biological resources (CBR) Rp 59.61 trillion (4.78%), intellectual property products Rp 31.21 trillion (2.5%), and other equipment Rp 20.66 trillion (1.66%).
Meanwhile, the GDP at constant 2010 prices (ADHK) in the second quarter of this year grew by 7.54% to Rp 850.84 trillion compared to the second quarter of last year (year-on-year/yoy). However, compared to the first quarter of this year, it experienced a contraction of 2.69% (quarter-to-quarter/q-to-q).
Cumulatively, in the first half of this year, investment grew by 3.46% compared to the first half of last year (cumulative-to-cumulative/c-to-c).
Indonesia's GDP in the April-June 2021 period grew by 7.07% compared to the April-June 2020 period (yoy) and also grew by 3.31% compared to the January-March 2021 period (q-to-q). Cumulatively, the January-June 2021 period grew by 3.1% compared to the January-June 2020 period (c-to-c).
For information, PMTB refers to expenditure on capital goods with a lifespan of more than one year and are not consumer goods. PMTB includes residential and non-residential buildings, other buildings such as roads and airports, and machinery and equipment. Capital goods expenditure for military purposes is not included in this detail but is classified as government consumption.
The concept of the PMTB definition is physical investment, indicating the addition and reduction of fixed assets in a production unit.
