Second Quarter 2018, Nine Sectors Grow Above National GDP

Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2018, measured at constant 2010 prices, grew by 5.27% to Rp 2,603.75 trillion compared to the second quarter of the previous year (YoY). This growth is the highest since the first quarter of 2014.

All 17 sectors recorded growth in the second quarter of this year. Nine sectors achieved growth above the national GDP, led by the other services sector at 9.22%. This was followed by corporate services at 8.89%, and transportation and warehousing at 8.89%. The remaining nine sectors grew below the national GDP. These include wholesale and retail trade at 5.24%, real estate at 3.11%, and mining and quarrying at 2.21%.

Considering the sources of national economic growth in the second quarter of this year, the manufacturing industry had the highest contribution to growth, at 0.84%. This was followed by wholesale and retail trade at 0.69%, and agriculture at 0.64%.
