Recent news indicates that Twitter's valuation is now only one-third of what Elon Musk paid when he acquired the social media company last year.
According to Bloomberg.com (Wednesday, May 31, 2023), this devaluation was conducted by the investment firm, Fidelity.
Elon Musk himself acknowledged overpaying for Twitter, having purchased it for US$44 billion, including US$33.5 billion in equity. He recently stated that Twitter's current valuation is less than half of what he paid.
Twitter has indeed been experiencing financial difficulties since Musk took over the company.
After burdening the company with US$13 billion in debt, Musk's inconsistent decisions and challenges in content moderation led to a 50% drop in advertising revenue in early March compared to October 2022.
