Taylor Swift broke a record as the biggest winner at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in a single night. The "Anti-Hero" singer won 9 awards out of 11 nominations at this year's MTV VMAs, held at the Prudential Center in Newark, United States, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, local time.
In total, Taylor Swift has won 23 awards from 58 nominations throughout the MTV VMAs. However, this doesn't make her the all-time biggest winner at the MTV VMAs.
According to the online entertainment media Capitalfm, Beyoncé is the biggest MTV VMA winner of all time, since its inception in 1984.
"Beyoncé holds the record for the most awards won at the MTV Video Music Awards! She has bagged 30 trophies, including two with Destiny's Child," as quoted from Capitalfm, Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Beyoncé won these awards from 89 nominations.
Beyoncé was also nominated for four MTV VMA 2023 awards, but she didn't win any. Previously, Beyoncé won 8 awards in one night at the 2016 MTV VMAs thanks to her album *Lemonade*.
Meanwhile, with this year's additional awards, Taylor Swift surpassed Madonna, who is now in third place with a total of 20 awards from 68 nominations.
