3-Month Nickel Commodity Futures Price Traded at US$18,560/Ton on Friday Morning, April 17, 2026

Westmetall recorded that the 3-month nickel commodity futures price rose 1.62% today to the level of US$18,560 per ton. This price increase is quite high compared to the average price movement in the past week.

The nickel commodity price saw its highest weekly jump on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 2.62%. It has strengthened by 9.73% compared to its position at the start of the year.

Current conditions are similar to the recent one-day movement of 3-month nickel commodity futures prices, which are in an uptrend.

Over the past week, the 3-month nickel commodity futures price has grown by 6.94% with an average daily transaction price of US$17,880 per ton. Meanwhile, compared to its position 30 days ago, the nickel commodity price has grown by 5.6%. Even from its highest price this year at US$17,350 per ton, the 3-month nickel commodity futures price has fallen by 6.97%.

Annually, the average trading price of 3-month nickel commodity futures has been in a downward trend over the past five years. Meanwhile, for monthly price monitoring, transactions over the past 12 months have tended to rise. The highest monthly average nickel commodity price was recorded in January 2026 at US$18,030 per ton.

Citing previous Katadata news, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan projected that the value of nickel derivative exports could reach US$60 billion or around Rp927.84 trillion in 2025. This is due to the downstreaming of nickel for electric vehicles (EVs). In 2022, the value of nickel and its derivative exports reached US$34.28 billion or Rp530.1 trillion.
