Global Top Advertising Revenue Companies 2022, Google's Parent Company Takes the Lead

Insider Intelligence released a list of companies that raked in over US$10 billion in net digital advertising revenue in 2022.

Alphabet, Google's parent company, ranked first with US$174.81 billion in advertising revenue.

Alphabet's largest contributors were Google, contributing US$157.43 billion, and YouTube, contributing US$17.38 billion.

Its biggest competitor, Meta, ranked second with US$129.16 billion in advertising revenue.

Facebook was Meta's largest contributor, generating US$75 billion in ad revenue, followed by Instagram with US$54.16 billion.

Alibaba Group held the third position with significantly less revenue at US$42.94 billion, followed by Amazon with US$41.75 billion.

ByteDance ranked fifth with US$31.66 billion in accumulated digital advertising revenue. Its largest contributors were Douyin with US$20.02 billion and TikTok with US$11.64 billion.

Insider Intelligence revealed that Alphabet and Meta still dominate the global rankings, significantly outpacing other competitors.

However, Alibaba, Amazon, and ByteDance have also become major players, with advertising businesses far exceeding the advertising industry spending in most countries.

Note that this calculation includes ads displayed on computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, and other internet-connected devices. The research team also calculated all ad formats on these platforms.

Net advertising revenue is calculated after companies pay traffic acquisition costs (TAC) to partner sites.
