The per capita food poverty line in East Kalimantan province was Rp. 546,670 per capita per month in 2022. This figure is up by Rp. 32,795 compared to the previous semester's data, which was recorded at Rp. 513,870 per capita per month.
Looking at historical data from the past few years, this is the highest poverty line growth ever recorded in the province in the last three years. The lowest previous growth was recorded at 1.46 percent in September 2020.
The Poverty Line (PL) reflects the minimum rupiah expenditure needed by a person to meet their basic needs for a month, including both food and non-food needs.
The poverty line consists of two components. The food poverty line is the minimum expenditure for food needs, equivalent to 2100 kilocalories per capita per day. The non-food poverty line is the minimum expenditure for non-food needs such as housing, clothing, education, and health.
As stated in the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) report, the highest semester-on-semester growth of the poverty line in this province in seven years was 6.38 percent, and the lowest was 1.46 percent, with an upward trend in the poverty line. This year's poverty line growth is still higher than before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Based on the island, out of the five provinces in Kalimantan, this province ranks second in terms of the poverty line. Compared to the national average, growth in this province is higher.
