September 2022, Poverty Line in Yogyakarta Special Region Rp. 398,360 per Capita per Month

The per capita food poverty line in the Yogyakarta Special Region province was Rp. 398,360 per capita per month in 2022. This figure is up by Rp. 19,461 compared to the previous semester's data, which was recorded at Rp. 378,900 per capita per month.

The poverty line in Yogyakarta Special Region experienced a significant increase this September compared to the lowest growth in September 2020, which was recorded at 0.24 percent. This year, the poverty line in Yogyakarta Special Region grew by 5.14 percent.

Looking back, the average increase in the poverty line in this province over the past three years is 3.79 percent. This figure is higher than the average for the previous three years (2016-2019), which was 3.1 percent.

The Poverty Line (PL) reflects the minimum rupiah expenditure needed by a person to meet their basic needs for a month, including both food and non-food needs.

The poverty line consists of two components. The food poverty line is the minimum expenditure for food needs, equivalent to 2100 kilocalories per capita per day. The non-food poverty line is the minimum expenditure for non-food needs such as housing, clothing, education, and health.

As stated in the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) report, the highest inter-semester growth of the poverty line in this province in seven years was 5.75 percent, and the lowest was 0.24 percent, with an upward trend in the poverty line. This year's poverty line growth is still higher than before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Based on island, out of a total of nine provinces in Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara, the poverty line in Yogyakarta Special Region is ranked third. This year, growth in this province is lower than the national average.
