The JCI Plummets Amid the US-Israel War with Iran (Monday, March 2, 2026)

The Jakarta Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) or IHSG fell 2.66% to 8,016.83 at the close of trading on Monday (2/3/2026).

According to Phintraco Securities, this decline was influenced by market participants shifting their funds to safe-haven assets, following the outbreak of a war between the United States-Israel and Iran.

"The attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran triggered an open war and made global investors tend to avoid risky assets," said Phintraco Securities Research Head Ratna Lim, as reported by Antara (2/3/2026).

Based on the IDX-IC Sector Index, 10 out of 11 stock sectors corrected today. The non-primary consumer goods sector fell the most by 7.60%, followed by the industrial and property sectors, which each dropped 5.95% and 4.14%.

Meanwhile, only one stock sector strengthened, namely the energy sector, which rose 1.54%.

According to RTI Business data, the frequency of domestic stock trading today was 3.65 million transactions, with a total of 56.61 billion shares changing hands, and a transaction value of Rp29.84 trillion.

A total of 671 stocks closed lower today, while 108 stocks strengthened and 41 stocks stagnated.

The top losers today were DPUM, POLI, and TRUE, which all corrected by 15%.

On the other hand, the stock with the code OILS became the top gainer after soaring 34.69%, followed by ENRG and RUIS, which each rose 25%.

In line with the IHSG, the majority of Asian stock markets ended the day in the red zone. The Nikkei Index fell 1.35% to 58,057.24; the Hang Seng Index fell 2.14% to 26,059.85; the Strait Times Index fell 2.09% to 4,890.86; while the Shanghai Index rose 0.47% to 4,182.59.
