Where Do Indonesians Find Recommendations for New Restaurants?

Based on the "2023 Trends in Culinary and Daily Online Shopping in Indonesia" report released by Grab, the majority, or 57%, of respondents said they discovered new restaurants or food shops through food delivery apps and Instagram.

Furthermore, 45% of respondents sought restaurant recommendations from friends and family.

Another 31% of respondents searched for dining options on Google, followed by 24% on YouTube and 13% on food blogs.

In line with this, Grab found that 93% of respondents ordered food online based on reviews.

This was followed by respondents who chose to order food online due to the digital payment and ordering methods, with proportions of 84% and 81%, respectively.

"When ordering food, consumers heavily rely on their mobile phones, from discovering restaurants to ordering (online or offline), and even making payments," wrote the Grab research team in their report.

This online survey was conducted through the Grab app in August 2023, involving 1,609 respondents from various regions across Indonesia.
