According to data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the value of non-performing loans (NPLs) for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide reached Rp59.81 trillion in August 2024.

This amount of non-performing loans is equivalent to 4.06% of the total outstanding debt or principal of MSMEs to banks, which totaled Rp1,474.76 trillion as of August 2024.

The national ratio of MSME non-performing loans has tended to increase compared to last year.

The current administration of President Prabowo Subianto plans to implement a policy to write off non-performing loans for MSMEs in state-owned banks.
