BSI currently has a large customer base across Indonesia, with total assets under management reaching hundreds of trillions of rupiah.
According to the company's financial report, as of the end of Q1 2023, BSI held Wadiah deposits totaling Rp64.7 trillion.
Wadiah deposits are funds entrusted by customers to an Islamic bank to ensure the safety and integrity of those funds. Wadiah deposits can be withdrawn by customers at any time, similar to regular savings accounts in conventional banks.
In addition to Wadiah, BSI also manages temporary Syirkah funds totaling Rp207.41 trillion.
Temporary Syirkah funds are funds received by an Islamic bank from customers, where the bank has the right to manage and invest these funds, with time limits and profit/loss sharing arrangements based on agreement.
The temporary Syirkah funds managed by BSI use a Mudharabah contract, where the customer is the capital owner (Shahibul Maal), and the bank is the fund manager (Mudharib).
At the end of Q1 2023, BSI managed temporary Syirkah funds in the form of Mudharabah current accounts worth Rp29.3 trillion, Mudharabah savings accounts Rp72.08 trillion, Mudharabah deposits Rp103.9 trillion, subordinated Mudharabah Sukuk Rp1.37 trillion, and Mudharabah term financing Rp749.7 billion.
From all these funds, BSI, as the fund manager (Mudharib), received profit sharing worth Rp4.07 trillion in Q1 2023.
In Q1 2023, BSI achieved a net profit of Rp1.46 trillion, a 47.6% increase compared to Q1 of the previous year.
