Recent 4.9 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Ransiki Region

A 4.9 magnitude (M) earthquake struck Ransiki. The epicenter was at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was located 49 km southeast of Ransiki at sea, and this earthquake was felt and is being reported to the public," wrote the BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website, April 17, 2024.

The earthquake occurred at 03:55:39. It was located at a depth of 9.0 kilometers and did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami. The earthquake's coordinates were 1.53 LS (South Latitude) and 134.61 BT (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt at intensity II MMI in Manokwari. An intensity II MMI means the earthquake was not felt or was felt only by a few people, but was recorded by instruments.
