Earthquake Information February 27, 2023 in Lhokseumawe City, 4.3 Magnitude, No Tsunami Potential

A recent earthquake measuring 4.3 magnitude struck Lhokseumawe City on February 27, 2023. According to a release from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake's epicenter was located in the sea, approximately 37 kilometers northwest of Lhokseumawe City.

"Earthquake felt, Magnitude: 4.3 on February 27, 2023, 21:39:23," BMKG wrote in its release. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 5.49°N (North Latitude) and 96.98°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale in several areas, including Aceh, with intensities ranging from II to III. An MMI scale of II means the earthquake was not felt by most people or was felt only by a few, but was recorded by instruments.
