BMKG: Recent Earthquake in Northeast Cianjur Regency, Magnitude 3.3, No Tsunami Potential

A 3.3 magnitude (M) earthquake struck Cianjur Regency. "The earthquake's epicenter was 16 km northeast of Cianjur Regency, and the earthquake was felt; this information is to be disseminated to the public," wrote the BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website on Friday, November 15, 2024.

The earthquake occurred at 15:38:17. It was at a depth of 4 km and did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. The earthquake's coordinates were 6.78°S (South Latitude) and 107.28°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale in Cipatat, Cirata, Cipeundeuy, Rajamandala, Cipeuyem, and Cikalong with intensities of II-III, II-III, II-III, II-III, II-III, and II-III respectively. An intensity of III means the earthquake was felt by several people but did not cause damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and glass windows vibrated.
