Since last Monday (November 24, 2025), floods and landslides have hit 47 regencies/cities spread across three provinces on Sumatra Island, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
According to data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), as of Sunday (November 30, 2025), this Sumatra disaster has affected 1.1 million people.
Approximately 290,000 people have been displaced, 646 people were injured, 402 people are missing, and 442 people have died.
"This [Sumatra disaster] has claimed a significant number of lives, but the data is still being updated," said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno in a press release.
As of Sunday (November 30, 2025) at 6:00 PM Western Indonesian Time (WIB), the Sumatra disaster has resulted in approximately 2,400 severely damaged houses, 1,800 moderately damaged houses, 3,700 lightly damaged houses, 43 damaged educational facilities, and 178 damaged bridges.
The disaster has also caused disruptions to transportation, electricity, and telecommunication networks.
"The joint team comprising BNPB, TNI/Polri (Indonesian Armed Forces/National Police), Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency), ministries/agencies, and local governments continues to work to accelerate search and rescue operations, provide logistics, and reopen access to affected areas," BNPB said in a press release.
