Recent 4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Tuban Region

A recent earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitude struck Tuban on March 24, 2024. According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake's epicenter was located in the sea approximately 126 kilometers northeast of Tuban.

"Earthquake felt, Magnitude: 4.5 on March 24, 2024, 23:14:58," the BMKG wrote in its release. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 5.80°S (South Latitude) and 112.34°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale in several areas, including Bawean, with a scale of III-IV. An MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by several people but did not cause damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and window panes vibrated.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded 12 significant earthquakes felt by the public across Indonesia in the last week, varying in magnitude and depth.
