There are 68 State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in Indonesia in 2024. These are their business sectors.

According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) report, there are 68 state-owned enterprises (BUMN) in Indonesia in 2024. This number has decreased from 70 companies in 2023.

In detail for 2024, 64 companies are under the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, and the other 4 are under the Ministry of Finance. 

"This reduction is due to the restructuring of BUMNs through the formation of holdings, mergers, and acquisitions of BUMNs," BPS wrote in its report Financial Statistics of State-Owned Enterprises and Regionally-Owned Enterprises 2024.

BPS views this step as one of the government's efforts to improve the efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness of BUMNs. 

If viewed by business sector, the majority of BUMNs operate in the manufacturing industry. 

The following is the number of Indonesian BUMNs by business sector in 2024:

• Manufacturing industry: 16 companies
• Financial and insurance activities: 13 companies
• Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and transportation and storage: 12 companies
• Construction: 8 companies
• Real estate, professional, scientific, and technical activities: 6 companies
• Accommodation and food service activities, and information and communication: 4 companies
• Agriculture, forestry, and fishing: 3 companies
• Mining and quarrying: 2 companies
• Electricity and gas supply: 2 companies
• Water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities: 2 companies

BPS also recorded that in 2024, there were 46 BUMNs with the status of limited liability companies (Persero), 12 publicly listed limited liability companies (Persero Tbk), and 10 public companies (Perum).
