List of Countries with the Highest Global Cow Milk Production in 2025

According to data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), global cow milk production volume is projected to reach 561.26 million metric tons in 2025.

This volume is up 1.19% compared to 2024 production (year-on-year/yoy), which was 554.66 million metric tons.

The USDA estimates that global milk production will increase by 0.4% (yoy) in 2026 to 565.43 million metric tons.

"This increase is driven by production growth in the United States, Australia, and Argentina, which is able to offset small declines in the European Union and New Zealand," wrote the USDA in a report titled Dairy: World Markets and Trade.

In 2025, the largest global cow milk production is projected to come from the European Union, reaching 145.55 million metric tons.

The region, comprising 27 countries, has consistently been a major global milk producer, at least since 2021.

8. United Kingdom: 16.2 million metric tons

9. Mexico: 13.82 million metric tons

10. Argentina: 11.49 million metric tons.
