According to Bloomberg NEF, the production capacity of coal-fired power plants (PLTU) in several G20 countries has increased over the past five years.

Indonesia recorded the highest growth in coal-fired power plant capacity among the G20 countries, increasing by 22.6% during the 2017-2021 period.

Growth in coal-fired power plant capacity also occurred in China, Brazil, South Africa, Japan, India, South Korea, and Turkey.

In other G20 countries, capacity remained stable or decreased, as detailed in the graph.

Despite the decrease in some countries, Bloomberg NEF predicts that the electricity generation capacity based on fossil fuels will increase again in 2022.
