The majority of Indonesian Muslims support the use of renewable energy.
This is evident from the survey report *Climate Action through the Eyes of Indonesian Muslims*, released by Purpose, an international advocacy organization.
In August-September 2024, Purpose surveyed 3,000 Muslims across various regions of Indonesia.
One of the findings: more than half, or 52% of respondents, strongly support renewable energy, which includes solar, hydro, wind, geothermal, wave energy, and others.
Furthermore, 28% support and 4% somewhat support. Combined, the proportion of groups supporting renewable energy reaches 84%.
On the other hand, 15% are neutral, while only 1% do not support it.
"The majority of respondents support the implementation of renewable energy, which is a key action to combat climate change," stated Purpose in its report.
"However, this support has not translated into a political movement that can encourage policymakers to invest in climate solutions," it continued.
