Men Still Dominate the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Expert Workforce

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly developing, particularly in developed countries. As AI advances, the demand for new skills is also increasing. According to the World Economic Forum's *The Global Gender Gap Report 2018*, globally, the field is still dominated by men, comprising 78 percent, with women making up the remaining 22 percent.

Several industries now have a significant need for AI experts. Female AI experts are most concentrated in the software and information technology services industry (7.4 percent) and in education (4.6 percent). However, the number of male experts in these two industries is still far greater than the number of women.

This gender gap is a crucial issue for nations aiming to remain competitive. The demand for AI experts will only continue to grow over time.
