According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the average wages of laborers, employees, or staff in February 2022 showed an upward trend in almost all sectors.
The information and communication sector had the highest average wage, at Rp4.86 million, or a 20.1% increase year-on-year. This is the second-highest growth rate compared to other sectors.
With the explosion of the digital economy during the Covid-19 pandemic, the information and communication sector recorded rapid growth in gross value added. This trend is in line with the large number of people using communication tools and laptops to work and study from home.
The real estate sector ranked second, with an average wage of Rp4.2 million. However, its year-on-year growth was the largest, at 23.94%.
In February 2022, the lowest average wage was recorded in the agriculture and other services sectors, with a range below Rp2 million.
Meanwhile, the sectors with declining average wages in February 2022 were health services, education, government administration, and manufacturing.
