The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the average wage or salary of laborers or workers in Indonesia in August 2022 reached Rp3.07 million per month, up 12.22% compared to the same period last year (year-on-year/yoy).
At least nine employment sectors have salaries above the national average. The average salary in the finance and insurance sector was the highest in August 2022, reaching Rp5.18 million per month. In addition to the amount, the growth of average wages in this sector was also the highest among other sectors.
"The highest increase in worker wages occurred in the finance and insurance sector with growth of 25.27% (yoy)," said BPS Head Margo Yuwono in a press conference on Monday (7/11/2022).
Next, the second-highest salary this year was experienced by workers in the information and communication sector, reaching Rp5.05 million per month. Then, the mining and quarrying sector had a salary of Rp4.81 million per month.
The following are the nine employment sectors with the highest average monthly salary as of August 2022:
1. Financial Services & Insurance: Rp5.18 million
2. Information & Communication: Rp5.05 million
3. Mining & Quarrying: Rp4.81 million
4. Electricity & Gas Supply: Rp4.49 million
5. Real Estate: Rp4.42 million
6. Corporate Services: Rp3.93 million
7. Government Administration: Rp3.85 million
8. Health Services & Social Activities: Rp3.62 million
9. Transportation & Warehousing: Rp3.60 million
Meanwhile, the other service sector had the lowest salary in August 2022, namely Rp1.84 million per month. This was followed by the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector at Rp2.23 million and the accommodation and food service sector at Rp2.31 million.
The highest salary increase occurred in DKI Jakarta Province, increasing by 30.46% (yoy) to an average of Rp5.25 million per month. Employee salaries in the capital city were also the highest in Indonesia.
