Beirut Is Now Asia's Most Expensive City to Live In

According to numbeo.com, a website that measures the cost of living worldwide, Beirut currently ranks as the city with the highest cost of living in Asia, with a cost of living index of 115.72 points. This score is 15.72 points higher than New York.

Beirut has the highest grocery price index among Asian cities, reaching 139.84 points. Meanwhile, its local purchasing power index is very low at only 15.47 points, lower than Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Tel Aviv-Yafo is the next most expensive city in Asia, with a score of 96.46 points. This is followed by other Israeli cities such as Jerusalem (89.68 points), Petah Tikva (89.33 points), Beersheba (89.24 points), and Haifa (87.38 points).

Tokyo has a cost of living score of 86.13 points, and Singapore 82.69 points. Nagoya and Hong Kong have scores of 82.29 points and 80.44 points, respectively.
