The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released data showing that the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Bandung Regency reached 6.52% in 2023. This figure is a decrease of 0.46% compared to December 2022, which recorded 6.98%. Compared to December 2021, the figure decreased by 1.8%.
The open unemployment rate (TPT) over the past five years reached its highest point in 2020 at 8.58% and its lowest in 2018 at 5.07%.
Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate in this regency/city ranks 83rd nationally. The national average open unemployment rate in 2023 was 4.3%.
The decrease in the open unemployment rate (TPT) is reflected in the number of employed people and the labor force published by BPS this year. The labor force in Bandung Regency has increased over the past three years. Historically, 1.82 million workers were recorded in 2021, this decreased to 1.81 million in 2022, and increased to 1.88 million in 2023.
Regarding the number of employed people, the number of workers in Bandung Regency has shown an upward trend over the past 14 years, and within the last four years, the number of workers has also been on an upward trend. In 2021, there were 1.67 million workers, increasing to 1.76 million in 2023.
The decrease in the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Bandung Regency is related to the economic growth slump in 2023. The economy in this region in 2023 was recorded at 4.97 percent. Previously, in 2022, economic growth in this regency/city was recorded at 5.35 percent.
