Based on Governor's Decree (SK) Number 562-768-2023 of West Sumatra Province, the 2024 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in the region is set at Rp2,811,449.27.
This figure represents an increase of Rp68,973, or 2.52%, from this year's UMP of Rp2,742,476.
West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi stated that the determination of the UMP amount has followed the established procedures, including discussions with the local Wage Council.
"The increase in West Sumatra's UMP for 2024 has been reached through a mutual agreement, including representatives from companies and labor unions," said Mahyeldi, as reported by Antara on Monday (20/11/2023).
He hopes that this UMP increase will have a positive impact on the community's economy, even though the increase is not substantial.
Head of the West Sumatra Manpower and Transmigration Office, Nizal Ul Muluk, explained that there are generally three variables that determine the 2024 UMP: economic growth, inflation rate, and the alpha coefficient, which ranges from 0.10 to 0.30.
According to him, the magnitude of alpha is largely determined by the level of wages and labor absorption.
Nizal also stated that the calculation formula for the 2024 West Sumatra UMP has been based on Government Regulation (PP) Number 51 of 2023 concerning Wages, replacing PP Number 36 of 2021.
