The Central Papua Provincial Government has set the 2024 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) at Rp4,024,270. This represents a 4.13% increase, or Rp159,578, compared to the 2023 UMP.
According to the Head of the Central Papua Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office, Frits James Boray, the wage determination follows that of Papua Province, its parent province before the division.
"(The UMP) of Central Papua still refers to the parent province, because until now we do not yet have a statistics office or a wage council in this region," said James Boray, as reported by *Antara* on Thursday (22/11/2023).
"Based on the level of difficulty in the Central Papua region, we assess that the UMP increase is still ideal," he said.
James urged companies to immediately adjust their wages to the new UMP. He warned that severe penalties would be imposed on those who fail to comply.
Central Papua Province is the result of the division of Papua Province, established in 2022.
