The definition of a working person in the Sakernas survey methodology is as follows: A working person is defined as someone aged 15 years and older who has worked for at least one hour in the last week with the intention of earning or helping to earn income or profit. This one hour of work must be consecutive and uninterrupted.
Meanwhile, BPS released data showing that the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Bandung Regency reached 6.52% in 2023. This figure is a decrease of 0.46% compared to December 2022 (6.98%) and a decrease of 1.8% compared to December 2021.
The reduction in the open unemployment rate (TPT) this year can be seen from the condition of the labor force and the number of employed people. The number of workers in Bandung Regency has shown an upward trend over the last 16 years. In 2021, the number of workers was recorded at 1.82 million, increasing by 69,958 workers from the previous year to 1.88 million in 2023.
Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate (TPT) in this regency/city ranks 83rd nationally. The national average open unemployment rate (TPT) in 2023 was 4.3%.
The decrease in the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Bandung Regency is not directly related to the slump in economic growth in 2023. The economy in this region in 2023 was recorded at 4.97 percent, down from 5.35 percent in 2022.
