The Riau Provincial Government has set the 2024 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) at Rp3,294,625. This represents an increase of Rp102,963 or 3.23% compared to the 2023 UMP.
Head of Riau's Manpower and Transmigration Agency, Imron Rosyadi, stated that this determination is based on a Decree ratified by the Acting Governor of Riau, Edy Natar Nasution.
Imron Rosyadi declared that companies are obligated to comply with this regulation, and worker salaries cannot fall below the UMP. "Companies paying wages below the minimum wage can face criminal penalties," said Imron in his official statement, as reported by Antara, Wednesday (22/11/2023).
Following the determination of the 2024 UMP, Imron stated that regency/city governments can immediately discuss the Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK) with the Wage Council in their respective regions.
Discussions on the UMK must follow the guidelines of the 2024 Riau UMP and must be announced no later than November 30, 2023.
"The determination of the UMK must be based on economic and employment conditions," said Imron.
