Organizations Participating in the First Indonesian Women's Congress 1928

National Mother's Day is commemorated every December 22nd. This refers to the holding of the first Indonesian Women's Congress from December 22-25, 1928, at the Joyodipuran Complex, Yogyakarta.

The congress report, republished in The First Women's Congress: A Reappraisal by Susan Blackburn, reported that 51 organizations sent their representatives to the congress, consisting of 30 women's organizations and 21 men's organizations.

Overall, the participants in the First Indonesian Women's Congress were estimated to number 1,000 people.

Among the decisions agreed upon by this congress were:

• Establishing a consultative body named the Indonesian Women's Association (Perikatan Perempuan Indonesia)
• Establishing an educational scholarship fund for underprivileged girls
• Strengthening scout education
• Preventing child marriage
• Sending a motion to the government
• Sending a motion to religious councils so that every taklik (conditional divorce pledge) is formalized in writing in accordance with Islamic teachings.
