Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that the gross enrollment rate (GER) for early childhood education (ECE) in Indonesia fluctuated during 2021-2025.

As for the latest data in 2025, the ECE GER was recorded at 36.19%.

In other data, BPS calculated that only 34.15% of children aged 0–6 years in Indonesia received preschool education services in 2025.

The gap in preschool education participation between boys and girls is not very large, with only a 0.45 percentage point difference.

When analyzed by regional characteristics, between urban and rural areas, there is a 1.9 percentage point difference.
