Based on data from the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), in the first semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, there were 1.46 million primary school (SD) teachers throughout Indonesia.
This number constitutes almost half of the total national teacher population, which reaches 3.33 million.
West Java has the highest number of primary school teachers, with 193,740, comprising 132,820 female teachers and 60,900 male teachers.
East Java follows with 168,640 primary school teachers, consisting of 110,970 female teachers and 57,670 male teachers.
Central Java has 155,700 primary school teachers, with 107,280 female teachers and 48,420 male teachers.
North Kalimantan has the lowest number of primary school teachers, with only 5,620, comprising 3,640 female teachers and 1,980 male teachers.
Gorontalo also falls into the lowest group, with only 7,460 primary school teachers, comprising 5,990 female teachers and 1,480 male teachers.
Furthermore, there are 489 Indonesian primary school teachers working abroad, comprising 299 female teachers and 190 male teachers.

* Community Learning Centers (SKB): 5,255 teachers
* Community Learning Activity Centers (PKBM): 34,067 teachers
* Similar Early Childhood Education Units (SPS): 46,930 teachers
* Childcare Centers (TPA): 5,371 teachers
* Playgroups (KB): 166,876 teachers
* Kindergartens (TK): 261,735 teachers
