Here are the 10 Provinces with the Highest Elementary School Tuition Fees in the 2017/2018 Academic Year

The 2018 Supporting Education Statistics publication shows that the average total education costs for elementary schools (SD) across Indonesia amounted to Rp 2.4 million for the 2017/2018 academic year. This total cost includes fees paid to the school and expenses incurred by students, such as pocket money and transportation.

Jakarta became the province with the highest elementary school education costs for the period of July 2017-June 2018. Based on the 2018 National Socioeconomic Survey (Susenas) Social, Cultural, and Education Module (MSBP), the average cost of elementary education in the capital city reached Rp 4.48 million. Riau Islands followed in second place with Rp 4.45 million, and East Kalimantan in third with Rp 3.4 million. All ten provinces with the highest education costs, listed below, are above the national average.

For rural areas, the average cost of elementary education was Rp 1.64 million, while in urban areas it reached Rp 3.1 million. The cost for public schools was Rp 1.96 million, and Rp 4.02 million for private schools.
